FOX has released this new promotional image for March 22 episode ‘In The Name Of The Grandfather’. The family travels to Ireland to take Grandpa to have one last beer at his beloved Flanagan’s Pub, only to discover the little town of Dunkilderry isn’t the quaint little Irish village anymore and Flanagan’s Pub is rundown and nearly empty. Homer and Grandpa buy the pub from Tom Flanagan (guest voice Colm Meaney), and with a little help from Moe, try to bring it back to life amidst the ultra-hip, hardworking sober yuppies of the small Irish town, and put ‘Simpson & Son’ on the map.
This episode airs in the UK and Ireland on March 17, before North America.
it sounds allright but why do uk get it first. dosnt this mean dat u.s. viewers would probly watch the episodes online before the u.s. eppisode comes out causing less ratings? good for us in the uk but could lower ratings. or will they count the uk ratings aswell as the us ones. probly not?
^UK & Ireland get it first because St. Patrick’s Day is March 17th.
Being Irish myself, I’m truly going to enjoy this episode! Let’s hope it lives up to my expectations. The title is a parody of the classic Irish flick “In The Name of The Father”.
No, the UK ratings wont and will never count outside of the UK, because ratings are all about advertising revenue which drives the sustainability of each show, and the UK ratings have no bearing on Fox’s advertising.
Honestly, this sounds great! π
Team-up senior-junior Simpsons trying to save old Irish pub!
I mean, what more would You like to see in this show?! π
Goo GB and Ireland!
Nice to see the Simpsons paying us back slightly for us loyal viewers in the good ol nations of the united kingdom.
Simpson is a real Irish name….Jesus..The Simpsons makers are obsessed with appeasing at the moment.
The revolting dyke episode for MORE appeasing of lesbians sickened me.
Surely they already DID an episode of Grandpa Simpson emigrating from NORTHERN ENGLAND not Ireland when a kid ?
And wasn’t Marge supposed to be very against lesbians when Patti “came out” to appease the pink nazis ?
The stories have been plummeting in the last 2-3 series.
Phil K, you sicken me. “revolting dyke episode”!? having an episode that shows gay marriage in a positive light isn’t a bad thing in mine, or any sane persons, mind.
This isn’t appeasing, it’s taking a concept that sounds fun and enjoyable an basing an episode around it, I’m sure irish stereotypes will be abound and it will be funny but not appeasing.
They Showed young Grandpa Simpson emigrating from “The old Country” as far as I care it could have been Ireland or Northern england, this episode just chooses to say “Yeah it was Ireland” anyway small continutiy things like that don’t bug me so long as the episode is good.
Anyway, yeah, your homophobia disgusts me. though that episdoe wasn’t from the last 2-3 series.
ouch
This is the first time I commented here and I must say you share genuine, and quality information for other bloggers! Good job.
p.s. You have a very good template for your blog. Where did you find it?
it should be aired in ireland 1st , america 2nd, uk last, because they come to ireland not uk
I agree with c-m-b, phil k, homophobia is not attractive….
plus there is no bloody appeasing here, i’m irish and we are always up for the craic and a wee bit of piss take? Sure we invented taking the piss.
Have you seen the curious case of b.button have you heard the ‘irish’ guy’s accent? One minute he’s born and bred belfast, the next he’s life long dublin….and the moral of the story is cast irish people as irish people, this is far worse than somebody taking a hand at you once in a while. Plus why did they put glen hansard and marketa irglova and not cast them as themselves….?
Ehh.. Hello.. England people are not Irish. hy is every one on about Great Britain…Its gawt nothing to do with themm….
It’s for St patricks day, when Irish people get drunker!!
Get a f**kin life brian. I’m Irish, I haven’t touched alcohol today. Neither have most Irish people, as they have work/college/school as usual tomorrow morning. People and their stereotypes…. sickens me. And this coming from across the pond, where crime is at an all time high, the financial state of the country is in jeopardy, the general public are still morbidly obese and uneducated? It hurts so much when people think we’re always drunk…. Even still we are more intelligent. =]
alanaght you noob

lol π
@nick-tick-97- “The worst spelling ever”… π
English isn’t my fist language either, but I think that my English is a bit better… π
But I think it’s OK that a boy (I suppose that this is a child) tried to give us his 2 cents about the Simpsons show.
Sorry guys the eposode was a bit of a let down, alot of the references were to England not Ireland, like the poilce not being called th Gardai and the busses being red… i suppose you could assume they are in the norht then why the double decker saying dublin… Anyway woud have really loved it if it hadn’t been hyped so much, i think they built it up to be better than it was, much preferred th U2 episode with the “potatoe man” line still makes me giggle!(i’m Irish by the way so probably considered biased but there’s my opinion of it) Might enjoy it more when its rerun and the hype it gone!
