A respectable 6.50 million viewers watched last night’s episode ‘The Good, The Sad and the Drugly’. After some poor figures earlier this year, the show has maintained this average figure for the last three episodes, which is good to see. The Simpsons at 8 paved way for Fox’s new offering, ‘Sit Down Shut Up’ which had just 5.21 million viewers (which, judging by viewer reaction is sure to worsen). An original installment of ‘Family Guy’ at 9 has 7.40 million viewers, while ‘American Dad’ ended the night with 5.76 million.
The Simpsons and Sit Down Shut Up were fourth in their slot at 8:00. Fox was fourth overall for the night but second among the target adult demographic 18 – 49. Please rate the episode via our reader poll below.

A new episode ‘Father Knows Worst’ airs next Sunday on Fox.
Great episode
I thought Lisa’s story was better than Bart’s. Good episode overall.
This one had some great laughs, some glimmers of old-school Simpsons. Willie says: “Don’t compete with my job, you’ll never win”…also the bit about the “dumb trivia” on the squishee cup. This is the type of offbeat humor the Simpsons should get back to. I’d rather see weird or esoteric jokes, even if they fall flat, instead of cheap slapstick.
It was an okay episode, but I didn’t find Lisa’s happy escapades very funny (aren’t I weird, I didn’t like the gas scene in Last Exit either)
Oh well, if more new simpson episodes are like the past few (like gone maggie gone) OFF will be back on their feet
3/5
i really loved this episode. im glad it wasnt just a repeat of the one with reverend lovejoys daughter. i thought that the whole thing was great, but they could have done a little more/better on lisa’s happy pill thing. not much of a sidestory. (although cheif wiggum getting shot was pretty funny)
I think the Simpsons are finally getting better. This and Gone Maggie Gone are great! For some reason I think the plots are better when they start involving school. The Springfield 50 years from now headlines were pretty funny. I love how angry Milhouse is when Bart gets a girlfriend. I also like how they didn’t have so many references to random things/have the kids using cellphones and iPods a lot.
This episode was very good! It had great plot, not so awesome, but good sidestory, and number of viewers is standard, but unfortunately not very high…
And about humor, humor was finally on good-old level as it used to be in “golden seasons” of the show.
I hope that next episodes will be as good as this one, cause this is the only way to get viewers back! 😀
I need to get me some Ignoritall for the swine flu epidemic.
