Back in 2005, TUAW conducted a poll of its readers to see what TV series they wanted to purchase through iTunes. Among the top five was The Simpsons.
The Simpsons Movie was previously available through iTunes, but it is one of the movies that has disappeared in the past few weeks. In the past couple of days, however, the main Simpsons TV series has finally made it into the iTunes lineup.
Only the eight episodes aired thus far in season 20 are uploaded in standard definition. Hopefully earlier seasons will arrive, along with high-definition once it starts. The Simpsons can be purchased from the U.S. iTunes Store for $1.99 an episode with a season pass for $37.99.
I hope they release this on the uk itunes
Brilliant. Hope it does come onto uk iTunes, but for now I’ll have to make do with Top Gear and Spooks.
Everyone’s a winner!
Um… am I missing something?
Aside from the movie, The Simpsons was never shot in high definition (and still isn’t as far as I know, though I could be wrong). It was always 4:3 full screen. Sure, they could probably pull a South Park and put up full screen 4:3 HD episodes with the black bars on the sides but I hardly think it would improve the quality of the animation in any significant way.
It would be mighty nice if the series finally did switch to widescreen though…
Oh, okay I stand corrected. It seems the show DID switch to 720p. Awesome. Can anybody confirm when they made the switch?
I believe its starting with the upcoming January episodes…
awesome. Simpsons are finally on iTunes. I already bought an episode.
They only have season 20 though.
They should get all the other seasons.
