The US Postal Service have announced that the Simpsons family will be commemorated on 44-cent First-Class Mail stamps in 2009. Featuring images of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson, the stamps have been personally designed by creator and executive producer, Matt Groening.
The Postal Service receives about 50,000 stamp suggestions per year, yet only about 20 topics make the cut for circulation, The Simpsons being one of the lucky few getting chosen.
A sneak peek of the new stamps will be made available on Thursday, April 9 at 8 am ET on the US Postal Service website. At that time, the Postal Service will announce the date the stamps go on sale and how to pre-order the stamps.
“This has been a dream for Fox and The Simpsons creative teams for some time and we are very proud to have been granted this honor. The timing couldn’t be better as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the show,” said Elie Dekel, Executive Vice President, Fox Licensing and Merchandising.
WOW! 😀
This step of US postal service only shows that the Simpsons are really great part of modern pop-culture, and this will provide their place in history, once again! 😉
Wow, if only they hadn’t waited until the Simpsons was a husk of its former self.
Oh, well.
I agree with husky boy up there.
First of all, hi. I’ve been reading this site since 2006 and looking at comments from the regualurs like Gaulty etc, but now I’ve decided to post.
I think the stamp think is great, another landmark in Simpsons history.
Why did you come to this site if you don’t like the show anymore?
The new Simpsons stamps have also been made into collectable hanging artwork on http://www.postagestampart.com website and will be available as prints or framed hanging art when the new stamps are released!
Nice to see ya posting Newbie 😉
Nice idea for sure, be good for the collectors out there. Doubt they will come over here, but might be some available somewhere. Better be good uns, wonder how they will implent it, scenes from a show or mugshots?
