MacGyver Takes On Springfield

Richard Dean Anderson reports that he has completed filming a guest appearance on his favorite show, The Simpsons, and says his career is now complete! The comments posted on rdanderson.com come straight from the man himself, who tells the website “Just enough strength to break the news of a completed career (mine) with the already completed episode of The Simpsons. You are the first one I told. More later. D’oh!!!!!” The guest spot has probably come a decade too late, with Patty and Selma’s obsession with MacGyver somewhat no longer existing, but I’m sure they’ll have at least something to do with his guest appearance. With his recording finished, the episode should be expected to air some time during the next season which starts in November. Keep an eye on the website for further details.

Ricky Gervais To Woo Marge

Ricky Gervais has revealed more about his upcoming cameo in cult cartoon The Simpsons. The Office creator will appear as a brand new character – and not as David Brent – in the episode, which he is also writing. While refusing to go into detail on the plotline for the ep, Gervais let slip that his character would try to woo Marge away from Homer with an original love song. “I’ve written a song that my character will sing to Marge,” Gervais told The Sun today. “It’s a love song, but I don’t want to say any more at the moment.”The episode will be recorded in June for transmission early next year. Gervais has recently been busy with his own upcoming sitcom ‘Extras’, which has already signed up Samuel L Jackson, Ben Stiller, Kate Winslet and Jude Law to make guest appearances.

Gervais To Write An Episode

“The Office star Ricky Gervais will write an upcoming episode of The Simpsons, it has been revealed tonight. Matt Groening, creator of the cult cartoon series, confirmed that Gervais had been signed up to pen an episode – in addition to making a cameo in the show. rybody on The Simpsons are fans of The Office – it’s one of the best shows on TV in the last decade,” Groening said recently. “So we are going to write Ricky into the show.” Gervais will appear as his alter-ego David Brent in the cameo, although it is unknown whether he will be writing the same episode.” Groening confirmed this news in an interview on UK channel ITV 2 this afternoon so we should consider this news official!

Renewal: The Final Word

We started this month by confirming that Fox had renewed The Simpsons until Seasons 16, but a week later, sources were telling us a 17th Season was also on the line. Until now it has been speculation, but Fox has revealled that the show has only been renewed until Season 16; taking it until May 2005. This however, does not rule out the possibility of any further Seasons. King Of The Hill has also been renewed until May 2004.

“The Simpsons renewal means the show will make it through a jaw-dropping 16th full season and roughly 360 episodes, allowing Homer and Co. to edge past “The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet” to claim the mantle of longest-running laffer in TV history. “Watch out, ‘Gunsmoke,’ you’re next,” quipped Al Jean, executive producer of The Simpsons. Season 17 On The Horizon

Following up on our previous report on Sunday, CBBC Newsround has now confirmed that not only are we guaranteed Seasons 15 and 16 of The Simpsons, but Season 17 as well. This would take the show well into 2006. “Indeed, in 2002 its creator, Matt Groening, said: “I think we are closer to winding it up.” But now Fox Television has confirmed that they have a deal to keep the show going until at least 2006. This will take it to the end of Season 17, meaning around 75 new episodes.” Read More >>>
