New York Post’s “Starr Report” has some more details about guest star Simon Cowell’s upcoming Simpsons appearance. Spoilers follow. “If American Idol judge Simon Cowell is brutally honest in real life, can his animated alter-ego be far behind? Cowell recently taped a turn for The Simpsons, playing a ‘brutally honest’ admissions screener at one of Springfield’s most desirable pre-nursery schools, according to a report in TV Guide. On the episode, airing next March, “Homer and Marge are trying to get Maggie into the school, but she has to interview [with Cowell’s character] first,” a show insider tells TV Guide. Cowell recorded his “Simpsons” dialogue June 27 in London – and apparently has some dicey things to say when he learns Maggie can’t talk.”

Cowell Guest Spot Confirmed
Following our story on Saturday, Ananova has confirmed American Idol judge Simon Cowell’s Simpsons guest spot, complete with story details.
He will play a nursery school admissions officer who treats toddlers to the same withering putdowns as hapless Pop Idol hopefuls. Executive producer Al Jean says “We’re talking about a story where the Simpsons are having trouble getting Maggie into nursery school. And we thought it would be funny if he played the nursery school admissions officer. Simon’s very popular in the US. There’s a history in American television of people we love to hate – fun villains, such as JR Ewing in Dallas – and Simon’s a similar sort of character. But overall, I’d say he’s liked rather than loathed. He’s the only one who says what you’re thinking, which is that half the people on the show are terrible” Mr Jean said Cowell’s Simpsons incarnation may come complete with his trademark high-waisted trousers. “Simon has criticised other people’s appearances on his show, so I think he should be open to that himself,” he said. The Simpsons Want Cowell
Mr Nasty Simon Cowell of American Idol and Pop Idol fame is in talks to star in The Simpsons. The millionaire talent spotter, famed for his barbed comments to wannabe singers, could have a cameo role turning idle pop Homer into a rock and roll sensation. Simpsons executive producer Al Jean admitted: “We thought it would be funny to include Simon in an episode. “I think he might do it. He’s hysterical!” After becoming one of the most popular judges on Britain’s Pop Idol, Cowell has also become a huge hit in the United States, judging acts on American Idol.

It’s Toony Blair!
“Tony Blair took a gamble yesterday by recording an episode of The Simpsons while Britain is still at war. But he reckons it will pay off. Downing Street sources insisted last night that Simpsons fan Mr Blair, who watches the anarchic animation with his children, agreed to appear in the show months ago. And he felt it would be ridiculous to cancel, especially as it would throw the programme’s schedule into disarray. The sources said: “He’s a big fan of The Simpsons. He knows he might get some criticism because of the timing but this was in the diary long before the war with Iraq began. We believe it will greatly benefit tourism and help bring Americans back to London.” In the episode which will air in Season 15, a cartoon Blair, complete with sticking-out ears and trademark cheesy grin, will give tips on tourism to the family during their visit to London. At a press conference on Thursday, Jean claimed he had no plans to include Mr Blair in an episode. “We’d love to get him but we haven’t,” he said. But it appeared yesterday this was merely a ploy to prevent any danger of the hush-hush recording being called off.” Read More >>>

Simpsons Head To Sweden
“The Simpsons are going to Sweden! Simpsons producer Denise Sirkot told the Swedish news agencys that The Simpsons will go to the Nobel Prize party in Stockholm! Professor Frink will win the prize in physics, and Bart, Lisa, Maggie, Homer and Marge will follow him to the land that invented meatballs.” Thanks to Christian Hedlund for translating this article. It is believed that this episode will air at the beginning of Season 15 in November this year, in Treehouse Of Horror XIV which will feature Jerry Lewis as Professor Frink Senior. OFF’s Visit To England
Finally, after more than 300 episodes the Simpsons are finally visiting England! They’ve been to Scotland before but have never made it south of the border until now. They’re going to meet JK Rowling but that’s about all we know. What else do you think they should do once they’re here! Should they meet the Queen, sing with Queen (the group that is) or play Twister with Nick Laws? Let us know your funniest ideas! Read More >>>

Rowling, McKellen Meet OFF
Daniel Radcliffe wanted it, but the producers managed to get the next best thing. JK Rowling is to make an appearance on The Simpsons. In the episode, the family travel to England to find a girl Grandpa had a wartime fling with. In London, they meet up with the Harry Potter author. Lisa turns out to be a Potter fan and questions the millionaire. Don Payne, executive producer of the cartoon, said: “The Simpsons bump into JK Rowling outside a bookshop and they talk all about Harry Potter. “We’re very excited about the episode and rest assured every British cliche will be trotted out to get a laugh.”

Ready, Set, D’oh!
“Los Angeles is a town wallpapered with tickets, but few tickets are as elusive as one to The Simpsons. Only 22 times each year the writers, voice cast and Matt Groening and Al Jean gather in a bungalow on the 20th Century Fox lot to read through that week’s script. Tickets are by invitation only, and today – episode #EABF20, titled The President Wore Pearls, which will not be seen until late in 2003 – I find myself sitting between a handful of British government ministers and Hank Azaria’s dog. A decade ago, the “read-throughs” were open only to a hallowed few. Today, there are no fewer than two dozen people in the room, and for a moment it looks like we might even run out of seats at the table. It is, to be sure, a very big table. But The Simpsons, to be sure, is a very big show.” Read More >>>

Blair Joins The Simpsons
As reported in November, British Prime Minister Tony Blair is set to appear in an episode of The Simpsons. Details have now been revealed, so naturally, spoilers follow. “The plot will take Bart and his family on a trip to London. When they fly into the capital, they will be greeted by Princess Tone. He will then personally drive them to their new time-share apartment in Bristol, where they will stay before returning to London two days later, hung-over but happy. Then Tony will fly his special envoys to the Middle East, where they will avert war by forming a human shield around Saddam Hussein.”
The episode is set to air later this season. “This is a major coup for the Simpsons and will guarantee blockbuster ratings on both sides of the Atlantic,” a source told the Daily Star newspaper, adding that Mr Blair would tape his lines later this month. His appearance would make him the first UK prime minister to star in a TV show whilst in office.

Seasons 15 And 16 Confirmed
“The Simpsons executive producer Al Jean has revealled that you can expect at least two more years of the show. “They just closed a deal to do two more years,” Jean says. “You get to do quality work. Here in Spain I see it on television. People love it. It’s the best TV job I can think of. I just signed on to do another two or three years, depending on how long the show goes. I’d be happy to stick with it until the show goes off.”

Jean Optimistic About Season 15
After creator Matt Groening’s conflicting comments earlier this year, the fate of The Simpsons looked unsure. Now, as Bart and his cartoon clan enter their 14th season — debuting Sunday at 8 pm/ET on Fox — the picture is clearer. “Realistically, the way it works, the actors are signed to do season 15, which starts a year from now,” exec producer Al Jean tells TV Guide Online. “I don’t see why that won’t happen.” Read More >>>
