“The Game Boy Advance version of The Simpsons Road Rage, developed by Altron and published by THQ, is due in exactly one month, on 4th July. The game is very much like its console brothers, and sees you take on the role of one of 15 taxi driving Simpsons characters, though ten of those need to be unlocked. The four modes of play are Road Rage, which charges you with making as much money as possible in a time limit, mission mode, with ten specific tasks, a practice mode going by the name of Sunday Drive and a head-to-head mode.” This is the first Simpsons game to appear on Game Boy Advance. You can see in-game screenshots at Game Asylum.

The Simpsons: Hit And Run
Vivendi Universal today announced their 2003-04 video games lineup to be showcased at next month’s E3 Expo. Amongst the titles is a new Simpsons game titled “Hit And Run”. The game will mostly feature driving missions, but players will also be required to complete some on-foot missions in a similar fashion to “Grand Theft Auto”. All up, there will be more than 70 missions across seven huge levels. The game will feature 17 different drivers from the show, and more than 40 vehicles will be included. While not much has been said about the missions, players will be able to explore a lot of Springfield, inside and out. There are over 2,500 lines of written dialogue from the show’s writers in addition to spoken dialogue from the original voice talent. The game will also feature a four-player multiplayer driving challenge mode, and will be released on Gamecube, Xbox, PS2, and PC in September this year.
The Futurama video game was also re-announced and is now said to include 30-minutes of new Futurama footage. It will release later this year.

The Simpsons On Your Phone
“If you’ve ever wanted your cell phone to say “D’oh!” when someone calls, you’ll soon have the chance. Twentieth Century Fox on Monday said it has licensed The Simpsons to the wireless division of video game publisher THQ Inc. to be developed into games, ring tones, screensavers and messaging tools around the world. “The fact that (the show) is in so many countries and so many languages, we think this will be pretty successful for us,” Doug Dyer, the general manager of THQ Wireless, told Reuters. THQ would like to begin releasing wireless products based on the show in the third quarter of this year. He also said the company plans to develop “channels” of Simpsons content, so wireless carriers could offer their subscribers games, sounds and logo packages based on themes from the show. Jim Beddows, for wireless entertainment at Fox, said the company waited to license “The Simpsons” because it is “one of the top-tier properties of the 20th Century Fox Co.” and they wanted wireless technology, like color phone screens and high-speed networks, to develop further.”

Man Enjoys Plenty Of D’oh!
“Twenty-six-year-old Travis McNall spent literally half his life surrounded by an imaginary family. Last Sunday was a milestone for McNall, who spent the night watching the 300th and 301st episodes of The Simpsons, the dysfunctional but fun animated family which has been beamed out to America by the Fox television network in one form or another since 1987, when they first appeared in short intermission films on The Tracey Ullman Show. McNall said his older brother told him one day that The Simpsons were going to have their own show, and after they sat down to watch an early episode in 1990, that was it.

“Walking into Robert Davidman’s office is like walking into a real, live Springfield. Davidman has figures of most of the town’s residents, including Itchy and Scratchy, Superintendent Chalmers, Homer’s twin Herb Powell and many, many versions of Homer Simpson. He has a Simpsons Rubik’s Cube, a Simpsons Pez dispenser, and a Simpsons chess set. Then there are the Simpsons Shrinky-Dinks, a talking family car, all three editions of the Simpsons issue of Rolling Stone, limited-edition animation cels, an ‘Eye on Springfield’ that plays Simpsons stories when you push a button … The man may have more Simpsons paraphernalia than Bart Simpson has Krusty the Klown merchandise.” Read More >>>

Crashing And Burning
Last week on November 14th we reported that Simpsons Skateboarding for Playstation 2 is in stores. Before you RUSH out and purchase a copy, you might want to read what IGN had to say about the game. Scoring the all-embarassing grade of 2.5 out of 10, it would appear that Simpsons Skateboarding has crashed and burned just one week after hitting the stores. The final word given by reviewer David Smith is: “Not fun, and not funny. Thus, this game fails on both levels — Simpsons and skateboarding.” I guess a good Simpsons game was too much to ask for.

Simpsons Hit The Skate Ramp
You’ve wrestled, you’ve bowled, you’ve opened a taxi service… now it’s time to test your skateboarding skills. The Simpsons Skateboarding is available in North American stores today, after being available in the United Kingdom since October. The game which is exclusive to Playstation 2 revolves around the Annual Skate Tour which has arrived in Springfield. The entire town has gone skate crazy on the half-pipes, ramps and rails. Bart Simpson is the favorite to win the whopping Mega-bucks prize of $99, but Homer, Krusty and many others are going to show just what they’re capable of when money’s at stake.
