The Simpsons Gone Wild DVD
The next DVD release hitting the rounds will be a specialty set titled The Simpsons Gone Wild. The disc was already released in the UK two weeks ago and will hit Australia on July 7th. A US release has been confirmed in an insert found in the Season Four box set released last week. No date has been issued yet, but it is expected that the disc will contain Homer’s Night Out, Sunday Cruddy Sunday, The Mansion Family, Homer The Moe, and a Krusty The Clown featurette, as appeared on the international versions. If anything changes or a release date is confirmed, we’ll let you know.

Season Four DVD: The Wait Is Over
The Simpsons: The Complete Fourth Season will arrive in North American stores tomorrow, retailing for $49.98 USD and $69.98 CAN. Every episode from one of the greatest seasons in the show’s history appears on the four disc box set, along with the bonus material you’ve longed for. Season Four Box Art Released
Get excited, this is what will appear on the box you’ll be able to hold in your hands on June 15th. The Complete Fourth Season DVD box art was released to online retailers today, and as you can see, it’s stuck to the same style as the previous three sets. Dark blue (I like to think of it as simpsonschannel blue) is the color of this set, while Barney, Ralph, Santa’s Little Helper, and Snowball II appear on the box in addition to the family members, giving us an idea of how they’ll combat cover similarities in the future. 83 days to go. Keep on counting, it’ll arrive in no time.

Season 4 DVD Press Release
Fox has issued a press release today citing the North American release date for ‘The Simpsons: The Complete Fourth Season’ as June 15, 2004 (just three months away). Featuring exclusive bonus material including commentary on each of the 22 episodes, an introduction by Matt Groening, a voiceover featurette with James L. Brooks, an Animation Showcase multi-angle feature, animatics, commercials, deleted scenes and more, the four-disc collection arrives at a suggested retail of $49.98 US / $69.98 Canada. The quick release for this set suggests that Season 5 could also be available by the year’s end. Visit TVShowsOnDVD for the complete press release.

Season Four DVD Update
After months with no talk about the Season 4 DVD, it looks as though things are finally starting to happen. DVDFanatic.com today announced that Conan O’Brien will be providing a commentary for the episodes Marge Vs. The Monorail and New Kid On The Block. “After seeing a Conan O’Brien show, one of our devoted readers asked Conan if he was going to do The Simpsons: Season 4 Commentary track. Apparently, Conan told him that he recorded them the week prior. “Tall Al” asked, “Even the Monorail?” and Conan replied back, “Yeah, Monorail!” In addition to this, early last week the website also announced Jon Lovitz would be providing commentaries for episodes he appeared in. There’s still no release date available for the fourth box set in the series, but we’ll let you know as soon as any news comes to hand.

Treehouse Of Horror DVD Out
While the eyes of Simpsons fans were fixed on the release of the Season 3 DVD, another set has slipped under the radar. The Simpsons: Treehouse Of Horror collection has been released in North America today and is available for the RRP of $14.98. The single disc includes Treehouse Of Horror V, VI, VII, and XII, as well as a special Kang And Kodos featurette. Current reviews seem to share disappointment over the fact that only five episodes are included when it could have been so simple to include them all. But if you’re a Simpsons fan that just can’t wait for these episodes to come out on the season-sets, we recommend you purchase it from Amazon for the wee price of $11.23.

Third DVD Set Bows Big
First-day sales of “The Simpsons: Season 3” DVD doubled those of the Season 1 DVD release and were about 20% ahead of the Season 2 box, according to Fox executives. Released Tuesday, it is estimated to have already sold through about 40% of its initial shipment of about 500,000 DVD units. A half-million units is a fraction of what major theatrical titles ship to retail outlets and video rental stores, but for the TV-to-DVD niche, it is a large shipment. The industry has found that seasonal DVD releases of series’ such as HBO’s “The Sopranos” can be rather lucrative because each box set retails for about $50, compared with about $20 for a major theatrical release. The increased profit margins and the length of time TV-to-DVD product tends to remain selling on store shelves has made TV-to-DVD products one of the hottest growth sectors in the realm of DVD, several industry sources said.
