Did you catch last night’s episode ‘Bart Stops to Smell the Roosevelts’?
If you did then you surely noticed the guest animated opening couch gag from Ren & Stimpy creator John Kricfaluci.
John K. has been an outspoken critic of modern animation who in the past has lashed out at The Simpsons. Fans will remember “The Simpsons” had a few responses to John K. by making digs at Ren & Stimpy in the episode “Another Simpsons Clip Show” where Marge remarks “…when is the last time you heard anyone talking about Ren & Stimpy” and in the episode “The Front” where the clip of Ren & Stimpy at the awards show was a black screen with text “clip not done yet”.
John K.’s views have perhaps softened over time as he himself has admitted The Simpsons helped pave the way for his work.
What did you think of the couch gag?
that was good
maybe they should make one with family guy style
just for a change
Probably the most visually interesting opening in Simpsons history in my opinion, it was excellent!
I knew it was John K.’s work the moment it started or someone heavily influenced by him. It was great to see this. I hope a lot more guest artists do openings in the future in their own styles.
The Banksy one was fun and this one was definitely a treat! Guest couch gaggers are fun every once in a while for sure!
