A total of 8.20 million viewers watched this year’s belated-Halloween special, Treehouse Of Horror XXI. Unfortunately, this makes it the least watched Treehouse Of Horror episode on record. Below are the figures from the last six years, which demonstrate that an expected increase in viewers based on past trends did not eventuate this year.
2009: Treehouse of Horror XX, 8.59 million
2008: Treehouse of Horror XIX, 12.48 million
2007: Treehouse Of Horror XVIII, 11.72 million
2006: Treehouse Of Horror XVII, 10.43 million
2005: Treehouse Of Horror XVI, 11.60 millions
2004: Treehouse of Horror XV, 11.29 million
It’s certainly not all bad news, though. On a positive note, the episode was the second highest rating of the four shown so far this season (Loan-A-Lisa is in the lead with 8.59 million viewers). Furthermore, last year, viewership did pick up the following weekend and exceeded the Halloween special’s figures on four separate occasions for the duration of the season.
The Cleveland Show had 6.70 million viewers at 8.30pm, while Family Guy and American Dad followed with 7.97 million and 6.30 million viewers respectively — making The Simpsons the highest rating show on Fox last night.
Lisa Simpson: This Isn’t Your Life airs next Sunday. You may rate last night’s episode using the poll below:

Not sure where you are getting your numbers from, but several ratings sites report Family Guy edged The Simpsons.

Terrible, terrible episode and by far the worst THOH episode ever, the end has to be near.
Pleco. Why do you say that? I actually think this is actually one oft he best!
It was ok the first one could beimproved but that was probably the most decent. The other two were ok but the episode really didn’t feel like THOH episode at all. hopefully ratings will improve soon for at the moment this not so good season 🙁
I liked it.
It wasn’t my favorite but it would be hard for me to rank all 21 of these episodes. I thought the board game segment could have been better… but I really liked the vampire one. The other was fine.
I watched with a small group of friends and we all laughed.
i think it was a good episode but something didnt make it a THOH episode, it wasnt like the others, but it was still good
i think it was a good episode but something didnt make it a THOH episode, it wasnt like the others, but it was still good all the stories seemed really short
I felt that this was one of the better THOHs in the last few years. The boardgame one was a little off, but the Homer/Marge felt like the old THOH: a little creepy, but still funny.
The last one with Lisa just kept me laughing. I was pleasantly suprised with this year’s showing.
The moment when not even a Treehouse of Horror episode is good anymore is the moment the fate of The Simpsons is finally decided. And this Treehouse of Horror, which is the worst one in the history of the entire show, is proof that the cancellation of The Simpsons will be inevitable.
22 years this show has lived, and no primetime TV show has ever reached such a length. But alas, nothing lives forever. I call for The Simpsons to be peacefully laid to rest rather than have its near-soulless corpse be possessed by a moneymaking Network for years till it’s nothing but a skeleton.
This show has to be concluded. FOX, Matt Groening, you know the show’s no good anymore, and you know the show has lasted longer than it was supposed to. You know what has to be done in the end.
And believe me, immortality is a worse fate than death.
The Simpsons must end, and it must end NOW.
shut up
it will end when Matt Groening or the idiots at FOX decide, not
when some jerk makes a comente that no-one from FOX will ever read
oh and, shut the hell up
what the hell, whats the point on becoming a member on simpsons channel
and then say that it should stop.i agree with r, it stop when they want
to stop
Tell me, what does the Simpsons have to offer now? Humor? They’ve run out of ideas, and various
shows that were created in response to the popularity of the show have taken its place years ago.
Controversy? In today’s world of Jersey Shore, Rappers and South Park, the Simpsons is no more
controversial than all the other shows and media that exist in the 21st Century. Charm? The writing
is long gone and the amount of detail put into the animation has wiped out all the cartoony
simplicity that made the show look so attractive and appealing, and the show’s now completely
bland.
Nostalgia? The soul of the Simpsons is embedded onto the classic episodes, and that is the
Simpsons that I and many other fans still love. You will find hardly a hint of childhood memory
from the episodes that are currently being produced.
I think it’s best for the show to be put to rest. The new episodes are no longer good, and if it
continues any further it’ll run itself into the ground. 22 years is long enough.
i agree with you completely, I still love the simpsons more then anything but i still think that what they show now is a disgrace to the simpson’s name.
“it’s better to have loved, then not loved at all”

It`s funny when douchebags preach about how shows they don`t like should be taken off the air, not realizing that they could just turn the TV off or change the channel.
It`s funny when douchebags preach about how shows they don`t like should be taken off the air, not realizing that they could just turn off the TV or change the channel instead of making an attempt to ruin it for the people who still like it. If all the writers of TV shows took their shows off because there are people who don`t like it, then there wouldn`t be anything on TV at all. Not everyone is going to like everything.
Its an Ok episode, the opening would have been great and a little scary if that stupid Office/Professor Frink thing didn’t even make it to the final cut, here’s the grades:
Wars and Pieces: OK, could have been WAY better. C
Homer/Marge One (forgot the name): the highlight of the episode, reminds me of the older specials (like Neal said) and Maggie’s little face at the end creeped me a little. B+
Pretwilight (preteen did the title say?): I admit it was funny, i laughed to the end, but, it was too quick (Wars and Pieces was too) though, i knew they were going to make twilight one soon (we all did) C+
The episode is not the worst of the season, but 22 years on TV, it is hard to come up with new material, especially when it comes to Treehouse of Horror, I give this episode, altogether, a C.
Submissons thing won’t work so here:
Today Fox renewed Simpsons for a 23rd Season:
https://www.foxflash.com/div.php/main/page?aID=1z2z2z176z4z8&ID=7219
I know, they don’t allow you to submit news here anymore!
They don’t report any news other than episode ratings.
There was nothing on Matt Groening’s hilarious interview on NPR about his new Simpsons Book.
There was nothing on renewing to a 23rd season.
Today Martha Stewart was on the view, and she mentioned her upcoming role on The Simpsons.
Site Owners – I’d be happy to help you with your shortcomings on this site.
I like the Simpsons because they are funny.
They don`t allways be funny .
I allways watch the Simpsons.
I wish I was Homers Littel Girl like Lisa .
