Apologies for the delay in getting these numbers out.
The Season 23 Finale Episode Lisa Goes Gaga attracted 4.79 Million Viewers. That was an increase from the previous week’s episode, but not by much. The ratings make it the fourth least watched Simpsons Episode to date in Neilson Rating Homes.
Bob’s Burgers had 3.56 Million Viewers and Family Guy had 5.28 million viewers. Fox was second in the 18-49 Demographic.
The next new episode to air will be Season 24’s opener in the Fall.

Prepare for the for ratings dip into the 3 millions this next season. At this rate there will be 2-4 million people around when the series finale airs. Embarrassing is an understatement to what they’ve done to this once beloved show.
Ratings are down across all networks for many reasons. The quantity of viewers has little relevance.
It’s true. While the ratings dip should be a concern for Simpsons fans, it’s affecting all TV programming. Shows like “Once Upon A Time” can now qualify as a hit while only bringing in 8 million viewers; that was unheard of in the ’90s. Still, I fear that Fox won’t hang onto the Simpsons much longer, and the producers will want to move it to TBS or Comedy Central, ala Futurama, which would permanently sully the show’s legacy and render it an utter laughing stock.
“which would permanently sully the show’s legacy”
Thats already happened for the last 12 years

Right on brother tell it like it is. to elaborate on ratings, they mean jack. basically only like thousands of people in America participate in the Nielsen ratings study the other millions of viewers are guesstimated. most Hard data is from DVD – BLU-RAY Sales, Internet streaming sites, and sites where you download TV.

Guy Incognito, YES that is what I am saying and I will also say IMHO just so you all understand I am not stating what I say as fact. I have watched enough TV and studied data to no what is going on. A lot of what is going on is network politics it has nothing to do with ratings. otherwise how does a show like Futurama get canceled when it gets pre empted every week by football games. the fox execs did not like that groening had full control over the show, so they canceled it before it could become big like the simpsons. and yes I believe most polls are inaccurate case in point the night of the 2008 presidential election polls showed mccain and palin winning by a landslide, the exact opposite was the case and anyone who argues different on that point I have a Washington post from the morning after the election that proves I am right OBAMA won on a landslide. what does that say about polls?….
the above is in response to these two posts about ratings,

I don’t think the Simpsons have been around too long. I wish they could go longer than season 25. I can grantee that the show’s last episode, will bring more people than ever. Of course ratings can’t be trusted any more. I don’t even watch them on cable.
If the Simpsons are almost Over is because The Simpsons cast have been hating on Fox for a long time, and Fox is tired of them. I am sure Matt would love to bring them to Comedy Central once they are done there.

So you’re basically saying that any type of poll ever taken is useless because they didn’t survey every single person in the country.
Thats good that the ratings don’t mean jack to you but I assume you’re not a TV executive. The networks certainly do care about the ratings as well as advertisers. They cancel shows all the time based solely on those numbers and the rates advertisers will pay for a commercial are judged by those ratings.
So with that in mind why do you feel that the show will continue on when the ratings are steadily declining and are now at record lows. Not to mention the show is over 2 decades old, not all that relevant anymore and costs a fortune to produce.
I love the Simpsons and I’m happy if it continues on it just looks like we’re finally closing in on the end.
Show me the poll that had McCain winning in a landslide!
It was an exit poll anounced on the news the night of the election….
you no, I’m listening to the Jimbo Hanan show and he has a Hollywood insider on who is saying that a movies box office does not matter as much because of DVD sales, on demand rentals, network and premium channels rights to show movies, just to name a few. this is almost the same as what I am saying about ratings. THIS IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE PEOPLE ITS JUST COMON SENSE.
Yes I agree Leo. Common Sense, Common Sense this show sucks @$$ now
And that is coming from a once die-hard Family Guy bashing, true Simpsons fan. Its over bro. Done. They f’ed up. Peace out and Im done too. Love the website and ur the best Ive been one here for 8 years or so but im done. Later.
That’s like your opinion man. Learn to use “IMO” ….
If you dont mind me asking, How old are you Pleco?
the reason I ask is you sound immature and I am just wondering if I am conversing with a fellow adult like myself or an immature kid. also I have watched the simpsons since the beginning and IM just wondering wear your coming from with this line of thinking.
I don’t mean to be rude or negative, but I frequent this website to keep updated on the latest developments in the world of the Simpsons.
It seems that all we get is ‘upcoming episode’, followed by ‘ratings for the previous episode’, and then the cycle starts again.
To be honest, I don’t care about ratings in the slightest, I just want some real Simpsons news…
In the past week, it was announced that there will be a series of 3D Simpsons short films played in cinemas, but the news hasn’t hit this website yet. What’s going on??
I totally agree. instead of this petty BS slinging you no what back and forth lets talk about real simpsons news. I am really looking forward to the simpsons shorts, Personally I think that most movies would be real fun with a cartoon short to start the show. and may be it would be a precursor to a sequel to the SIMPSONS MOVIE….
Thanks for the input.
While I can’t speak for the other admins on this site, I know I’ve been very busy just starting a new job. I haven’t had the time to post new stories.
When I started as an admin on this site, I was bringing in all kinds of new stories not related to ratings or new episodes. It takes time and energy which I don’t have as much as now. However, I’ll try to step-up the game.
Thanks for the input, it’s always welcome.
I understand. Life can get hectic sometimes. I think this web page is pretty cool keep up the good work.
Thanks LeoLucca.
I posted all kinds of stories in the past which had nothing to do with ratings or episodes… and they got fewer hits and rarely any comments. It seems the ratings and episode news are the biggest draws for the website. 🙂 And once the new season starts and episodes are rolling each week, those stories about ratings and previews come fast and quick and others are buried and hard to find.
I’ll try to make more time to stay tuned to Simpsons News to share with everyone. And if you ever have any suggestions, you can submit ideas and post comments like this.
Thanks!
‘The Simpsons’: Exclusive details on the next big-screen adventure (it’s short, silent, and in 3-D)!

Simpsons fans who have been awaiting the show’s return to the big screen, you may now let out a short, silent “Woo Hoo!”: A four-and-a-half-minute dialogue-free film, titled The Longest Daycare, will be shown before Ice Age: Continental Drift when that movie hits theaters on July 13. (There’s a little history between these two Fox franchises: The trailer for 2007′s The Simpsons Movie was stealthily placed before Ice Age: The Meltdown.)
Teased at the end of the season 23 finale on Sunday, the short marks The Simpsons’ first 3-D adventure (not counting the exploits of “3-D Homer” in Treehouse of Horror VI). ”[Executive producer] Jim Brooks thought we should do an animated short — a la the ones Pixar does before their features, a la the cartoons you used to see in the theater years ago — as a fun thing to give our fans,” executive producer Al Jean tells EW. “We just wanted to do this as a way of saying, ‘We appreciate how much people have stayed with the show and watched it for 25 years.”
The Longest Daycare — which was directed by David Silverman, who helmed The Simpsons Movie – revolves around Baby Maggie, who returns to the Ayn Rand School for Tots, where her lone friend is a butterfly. “They put each baby through an airport security-style testing machine to measure their future and hers says ‘Nothing Special’, so they put her in an area that’s not great,” Jean says. “If they put her in a good area, it wouldn’t be much of a plot.” He adds: “For a four-minute plot, it has a number of twists and turns… It’s very sweet but funny. ”

Why did the Simpsons producers choose to focus on Maggie? ”It’s hard to do a 20-minute Maggie episode, but in four minutes it’s great,” he explains. “She’s like Charlie Chaplin.” Jean is mum on how — or if — Homer translated to 3-D: “I don’t want to say which family members are in it. Some family members are in it. There are people from the Simpsons universe, including Maggie’s arch enemy. If you’re a fan of Maggie, you’ll know who that is.”

While the only chance to see The Longest Daycare in 3-D is in theaters, a 2-D animatic will be screened at the show’s Comic-Con panel in July.
Speaking of The Simpsons on the big screen… is there any word on that anticipated sequel to The Simpsons Movie? “There are no immediate plans for a feature, although as you see with this, you never know,” answers Jean. “It certainly made us excited to think that if we did another feature, maybe 3-D would be the way to go.”
This is an interview with Matt Stone and Trey Parker, Regarding ratings and other stuff. The interview is kind of long but it is good. https://youtu.be/aj3gaG3kkRY for those who dont want to listen to the whole thing the ratings blurb is at the 2:34 mark. See I am not the only one who thinks this about ratings.
