Lisa Simpson, This Isn’t Your Life (11/14)
Discovering that Marge was once a stellar A+ student whose grades plummeted after being distracted, Lisa fears that she will end up just like her mom unless she pledges to focus solely on academics in an encore episode. When Marge makes a secret deal allowing Lisa to attend her dream school, Lisa learns a lesson in family and altruism. Meanwhile, Bart puts Nelson in his place and unintentionally claims the title of “School Bully.”

The Fool Monty (11/21)
After learning that he is suffering from multiple illnesses and has only a few weeks to live, Mr. Burns becomes distraught by the town’s less-than-sensitive reaction to his announcement. Following an unexpected turn of events, Bart finds Mr. Burns weak and vulnerable in the wilderness and secretly takes him into the Simpsons’ home. But when Homer and Marge learn about their new houseguest, they decide it’s payback time, and Lisa, determined to stand up for Mr. Burns, learns that old habits die hard.
Damn, this feels familiar… Seriously, doesn’t the first one sound a little like the premise in the episode where Lisa’s worried about “the Simpson gene” making her stupid?
this season must be named “lisa” !
Yawn.
I think we may be finally witnessing the beginning of the end of this show. 4 Lisa episodes, and a pretty lame sounding THOH to start off the year. Not good
The Lisa episodes are getting a bit old, but I must say that these next two after THOH look promising (:
Lisa is one of my favorite characters and I’ve enjoyed the episodes featuring her so far. Especially liked the Bart-Lisa episode.
You can say it sounds familiar, but by this point – of course it does! You come up with a brand new storyline that doesn’t sound familiar to something that’s been done. South Park had an episode called “The Simpsons Already Did It” (or something like that) which hit home the point that the simpsons has had so many episodes and everything anyone does can be seen as similar to something else that has happened.
Remember that the first 2-3 episodes are holdovers from last season. So it’s not like they went into Season 22 creating lisa, lisa, lisa, episodes. It just so happens that these first few episodes play out that way. no Big deal. This has happened before in other seasons where I remember in a row there were a number of Krusty episodes and another where there were 4 Bart episodes in a row – were you people complaining then?
Thankfully those opinions don’t matter.
While the show may not be as good as we remember from single digit seasons, I think it’s amazing they still come up with stories and NEW ideas – no matter how similar they sound to something else. Why don’t we wait for it to air and watch it before judging it.
The Simpsons still puts emotion and a plot together in 20 minutes. It’s more than the crude cheap laughs of Family Guy with cut-away joke after cut-away joke. There’s a plot, a story, often with a point and a message as is evident with the last episode MoneyBart.
Let’s see how they turn out before we slam them.
I agree with you, people can be so thick
I’d rather see 100 Lisa episodes than one more Homer/Marge breakup/origin episode. Lisa and Bart are the best parts of the show.
Quit whining the show’s been on for 21 years so give it a break.
Matt Groening’s new book – Simpsons World Ultimate Episode Guide Seasons 1-20 just came out on October 26th.
Why are this site’s owners not posting it?
It’s a comprehensive guide on the show. New material, facts, figures, statistics. Looks really awesome. Great reviews. It’s an 8 pound book. 1200 pages.
Matt was on NPR this morning and you can listen to his interview here:

Why aren’t this site’s owners posting that? Why only show numbers.
Im hecka glad there’s not gonna be any guest stars in this one or the next one. The guest stars are so overused. They used to only use them when it made sense for the episode, and it was more fun because it was rarer.
yeah. I don’t even know half the people that guest star anymore. They need people like Ringo Starr and Paul Mcartney and Kelsey Grammer to voice, not all those other people. The only person im looking forward to in the future is Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) voicing in the THOH this year.
I am kind of getting sick of all these Lisa episodes… WTF! Everyone turns in to watch the Simpsons for Homer not a know it all little girl. Not a fan and I am getting a little pissed off. Anyone know does not like watching Homer episodes are complete idiots and I feel sorry for you because you need to watch a stupid little girl make you feel better about yourself. Homer is F*ing funny as hell and whats the show, period…
that’s one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard – “people” don’t tune in just to watch Homer, that’s a bad generalization.
The way I see it, the charm of the simpsons is the wide range of different characters. I also believe this is why the show has become this popular – that it is versatile, and every character of the town plays a part!
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE homer, but 22 seasons just about him wouldn’t have worked either.
