The death of Pope John Paul II over the weekend comes just a week before an episode titled The Father, The Son, And The Holy Guest Star was due to air. “When Bart is wrongfully expelled from school, he is sent to a Catholic school where he befriends a hip priest named Father Sean (voiced by Liam Neeson).” Due to the nature of the episode, focusing on a religion currently in mourning, the episode has been held back and instead a rerun of On A Clear Day I Can’t See My Sister will air this Sunday April 10. Depending on the content of the episode, it may be that certain scenes might need to be amended before the new airdate, but ultimately Fox felt it best to avoid controversy and not air the episode so close to the death of the pope.
