Bob Chambers, a huge fan of Simpsons, had his wedding a la’ Simpsons style when he married his bride with him dressed as Homer and she as Marge. According to The Sun, 44-year-old Bob, a cement worker, painted his bald bonce yellow, put on a goatee and wore Homer’s trademark blue trousers and white short-sleeved shirt. His 33-year-old bride Jane Butterworth wore a two-foot-long woollen replica of Marge’s famous beehive, with her characteristic orange necklace. The two got married at the Derby register office. “The Simpsons has been a big part of my life and it was only right it was so influential on our big day,” Bob was quoted as saying. Bart Simpson Visits Edinburgh
He is a ten-year-old tearaway who would normally have nurses recoiling in horror at the thought of him being let loose in a hospital. But Bart Simpson will be welcomed with open arms when he appears at his namesake maternity unit in Edinburgh next month. Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart in The Simpsons – the world-famous cartoon series by Matt Groening – will visit Simpson’s maternity unit at the ERI as part of an alternative arts event to the official Edinburgh festivals. In a major coup for organisers of the Edinburgh People’s Festival, Cartwright will perform an exclusive lunchtime show for staff and patients at the Little France hospital. Colin Fox, organiser of the People’s Festival and Lothians MSP, said: “It’s not every day a 47-year-old woman delivers a ten-year-old boy in Simpson’s maternity unit.” Read More >>>

Fox has released details of Season Sixteen’s big names to help draw fans back to the show. In addition to the four stars in the Super Bowl special mentioned earlier, TV and film stars Ray Romano, Kim Catrall, James Caan, and rapper 50 Cent have been lined up to star in the next season of The Simpsons. Romano will play Homer’s new best friend, Ray Magini, while Kim Catrall stars as Marge’s former high school pal. Journalist Chloe Talbot; rapper 50 Cent; architect Frank Gehry; and author Thomas Pynchon will star as themselves, and Joe Mantegna will reprise his role as Fat Tony. Season 16 is set to officially premiere on November 14, though as always the Treehouse Of Horror special is expected a week earlier, albeit 7 days after Halloween. More details will come leading up to the season.

The Simpsons And Electricity
Children once baffled by how electricity works have revealed their source of understanding – The Simpsons. The satirical cartoon, based on the archetypal dysfunctional family, has unexpectedly achieved what teachers and parents have long failed to do. It was the hapless Homer Simpson, father of Bart, working at Springfield power station who inadvertently helped to explain how electricity was generated. Research carried out by the Science Museum suggested 10 and 11-year-olds responded better to the cartoon than traditional explanations of electricity. The study also found kids were confused by some energy terminology, thinking fossil fuels were connected to dinosaurs and nuclear power related to weapons of mass destruction. Read More >>>

Star Studded Super Bowl Event
If you thought last year’s Super Bowl half-time extravaganza was wild, see what happens when Homer is running the show! In The Simpsons post-Super Bowl XXXIX episode, “Homer and Ned’s Hail Mary Pass” airing Sunday, Feb. 6, after Homer inadvertently performs a wild crowd-pleasing dance at a local carnival, he is hired by several prolific sports figures including LeBron James, Warren Sapp, Yao Ming and Michelle Kwan, guest-starring as themselves, to choreograph their victory dances. After his dances prove successful, Homer is tapped to choreograph the Super Bowl halftime show. Panicked the night before the event, Homer enlists the help of his neighbor, Ned Flanders, and together they put on a non-violent, deeply meaningful halftime show that America chastises for its blatant display of decency.

Isabel Sanford Dies At 86
Actress Isabel Sanford, best known as “Weezie,” Louise Jefferson on the television sitcom “The Jeffersons,” died of natural causes, her publicist said Monday. She was 86. Sanford died Friday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she had been hospitalized since July 4, said Brad Lemack. Her daughter, Pamela Ruff, was at her side, he said. Her health had waned after undergoing preventive surgery on a neck artery 10 months ago, Lemack said. He did not give a cause of death. Sanford co-starred with Sherman Hemsley from 1975 to 1985 on CBS’ “The Jeffersons,” a spin-off of the popular series “All in the Family,” in which she also appeared. She appeared on The Simpsons earlier this year as herself in the episode Milhouse Doesn’t Live Anymore, as an episode narrator and tourguide at the museum of television.

Yeardley Takes English Flight
Lisa Simpson is to cry aloud for Cornwall’s independence from Britain in a special Christmas episode of The Simpsons, according to campaigners. The plot has been revealed by a group that says it has been asked to give the character lessons in the Cornish language. Cornwall is Britain’s southernmost county and had a population of 499,000 people in 2001. Matthew Clarke, of the Cornish Language Fellowship, said he was contacted last week by the producers of the US cartoon series who wanted a translation of the phrase “Freedom for Cornwall now”. “They wanted Lisa to take up the call for Cornish independence,” he said. “It is probably one of the better inquiries we have had.” The segment has now been recorded by Yeardley Smith, the voice behind Lisa, and the show is set to go out in Britain as an alternative to the Queen’s traditional Christmas message.
