Deputies from the State Duma, Russia’s lower house of parliament, have asked the Ministry of Culture and Mass Communications to monitor the cartoons shown on Russian television closely. Foreign cartoons require special attention, Russian deputy Yelena Afanasyeva of the Liberal Democrat faction said.
“After having watched Griffins and The Simpsons, the experts found that the cartoons were crammed with violent and aggressive episodes,” Afanasyeva was quoted by Interfax news agency as saying. Experts note that those cartoons “introduce antagonism between children and parents,” she said.
