Season 22 of The Simpsons kicks off in North America tonight with ‘Elementary School Musical’.
When Krusty the Clown is announced as the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, Homer invites Bart to accompany him on a trip to Oslo for the ceremony. Sensing that Lisa would feel left out, Marge surprises her with a week-long retreat at performing arts camp, where she is greeted by her artsy counselors Ethan and Kurt and fellow musically inclined campers, who inspire her to embrace her creative side. After she returns to Springfield, Lisa becomes restless with her ho-hum suburban lifestyle and sneaks off to Sprooklyn in hopes of connecting with her inner hipster, but she soon realizes that the city is not the same as camp.

Terrible episode, just awful
It was an awesome season premiere !!!!
Haha, a great season opener!
Can someone recommend a good website to watch this episode on?
Nevermind, I found a site.
Terrible episode.

The season 22 episode has the worst attempt at a Dutch accent, known to man. It ranges from French to German, with even a bit of Swedish thrown in there. This despite the fact that a Dutch accent is extremely distinct.
My husband is Dutch, but grew up in Canada. Naturally, he can put on a positively superb Dutch accent, what with his parents and relatives as life-long tutors. We have a lot of fun with it, and can pick out even the faintest Dutch accent.
This is what Dutch people sound like when they speak English: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhtq1ObGHy8 (or just do an Internet search for “Dutch accent”)
I was just a bit surprised the Simpsons folks got it so wrong. The Dutch accent is so distinct. 🙂
My follow-up comment is missing!
I wrote, “Doh! Worst link ever!”
The link I meant to post is:

THAT is how Dutch people speak English!
Doh! Worst link ever!
(In my defense, I was using my iPad, and it’s hard to get the links for Youtube videos, because as soon as you click on a search result, it opens up a separate Youtube app, which doesn’t show the direct link for the video.)
Sooooo…. After realizing that the link I posted was of Steve McClaren having picked-up a Dutch accent, I went to my main computer and retrieved this much better link to a typical (but authentic) Dutch accent.
This is what I meant… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZs6GT7Lcfo (blushing) This is a typical Dutch accent. Great, isn’t it?!? 😉
I enjoyed the ‘Flight of the Conchords,’ though.
One thing the Simpsons DOESN’T need is more musical episodes, though. 🙁 musicals = jody sad…or angry (giggling)
Terrible, 4/10, hope it gets better next week
I’ll tell you why it was awful is the Simpsons writers continue to whore themselves out to whatever they can for attention. A series finale about American Idol followed by a premiere about Glee and Flight of the Conchords. No originality whatsoever!! This is the reason I’m about done with this show. I miss the Treehouse of Horrors as the first episode. Every premiere in Sept. since 2005 has sucked!
I thought the season premier was OK not the worst Simpson’s episode but not the best. I will say the worst Simpson’s episodes are better then most other things on TV. The only things I watch on TV are Sunday night cartoons on fox, Futurama, G4 network and sports so other then that most TV stinks IMHO….
this wasn’t a very good premire episode. Who are these guest stars? Just seems like an excuse to get more popularity, not to focus on the plot and humour….
