There’s been a little trend in the past couple of months. A trend to shut down. All that remains of The Springfield Shopper today is a flash cartoon spelling their demise; similarly, The Simpsons Odyssey has disappeared without prior notice. And now The Simpsons Folder is offline. All this in one week.
The future of The Simpsons community now rests with very few sites. In fact, you could count them on one hand. The Simpsons Archive, Last Exit To Springfield, Eye On Springfield, The Simpsons Sourcebook, and The Simpsons Showcase are what we believe to be the five elite sites remaining, and updates are lacking all around. Four of these have been hassled by Fox. It’s not often that I use my space here to rant about the community, but The Simpsons Channel thrives on the community being alive. We will cease to exist if this continues. We only have Fox and their lawyers to blame; if this is how they want the web to look it will surely damage their show. I don’t want to shut down, but the fact is when my domain renewal comes up in December, I wont be paying it if the community continues to break. If we were to do a link update tomorrow, every category would be empty and we’d be struggling to fill our top 20! Enjoy us while you can folks, we may not be here for much longer.
