In news that is sure to make any regular visitors of Last Exit To Springfield feel extremely old, Fox has today ordered four more seasons of The Simpsons, locking in the show’s future all the way to Season 40 and to episode 861, ensuring that new episodes of the show remain on our screens through 2029.
Each new season will pack 15 episodes – shorter than we’ve come to expect from the first 34 seasons, but perhaps a shorter season order can ensure a focus is set on quality over quantity – with more killer and no filler.
The Simpsons isn’t just coasting—it’s shattering its own records! Already the longest-running American animated series, sitcom, and scripted primetime show, this four-season pickup stretches those titles even further. Since 1989, the show has racked up 35 Emmy Awards, nearly 800 episodes, and a permanent spot in pop culture history.
Fox isn’t stopping with Springfield. Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers, and American Dad also scored four-season renewals, keeping the network’s animation block stacked. Rob Wade, CEO of Fox Entertainment, called the deal a testament to their partnership with Disney, promising “long-term value” for fans. Marci Proietto, head of 20th Television Animation, hyped the order as “historic,” ensuring hundreds more episodes for new and loyal viewers.
