“I’ve been in Reno for six weeks, did I miss anything?”
Hey everybody. I’ve been on a road trip for the last 5 days, and what do I miss? Quite literally one of the most important discussions relating to the show’s inevitable demise since, well, let’s just say Simpsons Channel was there when it happened in March 1998, and in April 2004, and again in May 2008, but this time it does seem a little more real, sort of like a health scare would be for any ageing patient.
The lesson to be learnt by those past stories is that we should not jump to conclusions until we receive final word. After all, back when those first contract negotiations came about, we were in the midst of Season 9. Could you imagine if the show had stopped at “Bart The Mother”, the last episode in the Season 9 production block?
The show IS still on the air for now, so lets take a look at the ratings we missed for Sunday’s episode ‘Bart Stops To Smell The Roosevelts’. A total of 6.12 million viewers tuned in to the show — down quite substantially on the season premiere, but nothing to get worried about as we’ve seen worse. Half hour breakdowns as follows:
- 8:00 – The Simpsons (6.12 million)
- 8:30 – The Cleveland Show (5.47 million)
- 9.00 – Family Guy (6.91 million)
- 9.30 – American Dad (5.71 million)
Fox was fourth overall for the night, and third among adults 18 – 49.
No new episode is expected to air until ‘Treehouse of Horror XXII’ on October 30. That’s a shame — the latest news would have seen a spike in the interest of thousands of casual fans had an episode aired this weekend. As always, the episode can be rated with our poll below:
