A total of 7.11 million viewers watched last night’s episode ‘O Brother, Where Bart Thou?’ Family Guy had 7.68 million viewers, making it the top watched animated show of the night. The Cleveland Show continues to pull reasonable figures at 6.52 million, and American Dad had 6.19 million viewers at the end of the night.
The Simpsons has seen respectable ratings up to this point, which is in line with last year’s trends. From this point on, viewers tend to disappear over the Christmas break and not come back. But the 20th Anniversary Special and 450th episode ‘Once Upon a Time in Springfield’ airing on January 10 is sure to boost that usual slump.
If you haven’t yet rated last night’s episode you may do so below:

Awesome episode! Great story and great jokes throughout the entire show. They also put the guest stars to good use. The Mannings and the Smothers Brothers were hilarious. This season has been amazing and this is probably my favorite episode so far.
Loved it. I liked the Obama joke… even though the current references don’t always make me laugh. The Smothers Brothers were good too.
Nice Episode in my opinion. My friends and I laughed.
Best episode ever. It made me laugh out loud. I loved the parody to saw.
I can’t wait for next years episodes.
Best episode of the season. I loved the South Park parody!
5/5 amazing episode!
i can see simpsons going on for a few more seasons at least if they keep on having episodes like this!
BEST EPISODE THIS SEASON
Story-9/10
Humor-8.5/10
originality-8.5/10
voice acting and graphics-9/10
Total 8.7/10
I loved the south Park parody Raplh was kenny and you know what happens to kenny…you bastards lololol
Probably the best episode this season!
Really loved all the jokes, plot was nice, although not too original, and the atmosphere of the holiday spirit is present in every aspect of the episode.
The Smothers Brothers were really good, and Obama joke was also funny.
I think that this season has great potential to become the best one in last couple of years.
The SouthPark parody was good. Other than that, it just feels like their trying too hard. I hate to be a stick in the mud, but the last two seasons have been awful. I’ve been rewatching the old DVD’s and remembering how great the episodes used to be (Phil Hartman, we miss you).
My wife and I were talking about good episodes and at some point in the conversation I had said I love the Mojo the Monkey helper episode (“pray for mojo”). At some point in the conversation she had said she liked the Kids News episode. Then we realized, same episode. I miss that (and not the stupid har har where they poorly put two stories into the episode and then joke that they did it). ;P
I give marbat a 5.0 with his ratings this week; he didn’t explain how he gave out the grades.
thanks Tyrone McBlacklebee your too generous
@ John
Feel free to stop watching anytime.
Simpsons Channel has been really slow in putting new info lately. FOr those that are dying to know, the mid- season premiere will be January 3rd, 2010, with the episode “Thursdays With Abie”.
GRAMPA REVEALS ALL ON AN ALL-NEW “THE SIMPSONS”
SUNDAY, JANUARY 3, ON FOX
Author Mitch Albom (“Tuesdays with Morrie,” “The Five People You Meet in Heaven”)
Makes Guest Voice Appearance
Grampa is sitting on a bench waiting for his family when a thoughtful-looking man named Marshall Goldman approaches him and asks to hear about his life. Grampa tells Goldman about the time he was on a World War II battleship, which was hit by an enemy torpedo, and Goldman, a human-interest columnist, publishes it in The Springfield Shopper. Later, Grampa meets Mitch Albom (guest-voicing as himself) and shares another story with Goldman for a follow-up article. Homer becomes jealous of Grampa’s newfound fame and seeks a surrogate father. But when Homer discovers a draft of Goldman’s third story, he must race to find Grampa before it is published and his life is changed forever in the all-new “Thursdays with Abie” episode of THE SIMPSONS airing Sunday, Jan. 3 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (SI-2102) (TV-PG L, V)
@john
what are you, the biggest critic ever?! this episode was fantastic and best all season maybe even the best in years!
@john go die in a hole this was the best episode this season
Harsh, harsh comments guys.
Not seen the episode, must admit I’m coming more lazy in terms of watching new Simspons episodes. Last two years have been an improvement for sure, but not a match on 1-9 by miles.
To an extent I agree with John, last few seasons have had no notable episodes, once again compared to 1-9.
I have a feeling a lot (but not all) of the criticism of the show over the past several years has to do with people’s judgment being clouded by nostalgia so maybe the newer episodes will become more ‘notable’ after you watch them in syndication and on DVD for about 10 years.
Its a very plausable theory Santos, I’m honestly not all that sure to be fair. I think my problem is I’ve just gotten too lazy and not all that bothered with watching new episodes. Probably as Sky doesn’t work on my busy schedule 🙂 We’ll see, I’ll always get the DVD’s and perhaps when looking back, they may be quite good.
The mid- season premiere will be in January 3rd, 2010.

I put the link on where i got the info.
The new episode’s are no where near as good as the old 1s but i loved the saw and barts xbox in his room. I’m sure there’s an episode called O Brother, Where Art thou which is about is about Homers brother maybe there running out of names????/
Santos is an illegal; stop picking on John. Pick on Marbat. JK Marbat don’t take offense like you usually do
I’m adding this to my list of favorites!! Super funny!! I laughed every minute! I couldn’t even relate to the Smothers Brothers joke (I guess it’s not my time) and still super funny!! Anyone who says this is not as funny as the “old” ones is out of your mind and not a real fan. You want the old days? Watch an old episode. The rest of us are on to the next one!
Honestly, i think this was a fair episode. There are just two pet peeves I have with it:
Okay, who was the guy who played bart’s brother? Does he even have a carrer, or was he just some random kid who won a contest?
For as clever as the South Park reference was, there was really no need for it. No bearing to the story, it was just there.
