Q. When will the next Simpsons DVD Box Set be released?
dvdSimpsons DVD Box Sets are released twice per year, provided writers strikes and movies don't get in their way. Based on patterns and trends, here's what's likely to happen:

• Season 11 will be released in August 2008
• Season 12 in December 2008
• Season 13 in August 2008
• Season 14 in December 2008

the show

Q. Where is Springfield?
dvdThe Simpsons live at 742 Evergreen Terrace in Springfield, USA. What state? Nobody knows, not even the people that make the show. It has been revealed on Behind The Laughter that they were from Kentucky but this was changed in its second airing. The writers continue to tease viewers with clues, but Matt Groening has said himself that there is no actual location for Springfield. He chose the name as most places have a 'Springfield'. If this isn't good enough, you can stick with Kentucky if you want. A map in 'Brake My Wife, Please' marked Springfield in a similar area. to Kentucky. SNPP.com have a huge list of Where Is Springfield? references you might want to look at.
Q. I heard The Simpsons has been cancelled. Is this true?
The Simpsons has not been cancelled. The show has always been on a contract-by-contract basis and its cancellation will occur when Fox finds the show is no longer profitable or the creators lose interest. Neither have happened yet. Nobody has even begun talking about the end of The Simpsons yet. When the show does get cancelled, you'll know about it.
Q. Where can I download full length Simpsons episodes?
The practice of offering full length episodes is illegal, so if I knew about any sites which offered them, chances are they wont be around for long. Your best bet is to scour the BitTorrent network -- the episode are out there, and that's not an acceptable answer for most of you, but it's all I've got.
Q. Can you provide me with a list of Bart's blackboard quotes?
dvdSometimes creating a section is pointless because it's already been done for us. Rather than refuse to give you a list, I'll provide you with a link to one.

The Simpsons Archive covers every episode's blackboard quote, even if there were none. It's updated almost immediately after new episodes air. The Simpsons Archive also has lists of couch gags and other references, I can't stress enough how many of our questions can be answered with their url.

the characters

Q. Why do The Simpsons always wear the same clothes?
It's much easier for the animators to have set colors and clothing so that many people can be trained to draw the same things. Since several animators are working on the one scene, this avoids continuity issues, and ensures the family are always wearing the same clothes. The writers often make reference to the fact that they never change clothes and insert little meta references into some episodes.
Q. Do The Simpsons have middle names?
Bart's middle name is Jo-Jo, Homer's was revealled to be Jay after years of being reffered to as "J.", Lisa's is Marie. Marge and Maggie's have never been spoken, and may not have them at all.
Q. Is Waylon Smithers really gay?
Yes. Why is this still hard for you people to believe? The evidence since Season 2 has been overwhelming. Doesn't get more crystal clear without announcing it.
Q. Are Lenny and Carl gay?
dvdThey've been clearly heterosexual in some of the earlier seasons, eyeing women and watching a strip show in Season One. But you'd could be mistaken in the last couple of seasons, particularly in the episode where Artie Ziff returns. The question was asked at a writers conference and the writers themselves said that they are just really good friends.

It wasn't until fans started questioning their sexuality that they started messing with the characters to make you think they were gay. They've known each other since they were little, so for them to be anything more than friends would be weird.
Q. Why did they kill off Maude Flanders?
The voice actor (Maggie Roswell) left the show and they didn't want her replacement to have to handle too many characters. But Maggie's been back since then, and although Al Jean has repeatedly said he'd like to rewrite all the changed character scenarios that affect the show's continuity, Maude being dead isn't one they can change I'm afraid.

your questions

Q. What does OFF mean?
OFF is a commonly used term on the internet when it comes to Simpsons, and it simply means 'Our Favorite Family'.

Q. What song is played in Moe's at the end of Strong Arms Of The Ma?
The song after Marge trashes the bar is "Adagio For Strings", by Samuel Barber. It has been remixed recently, and featured in movies "Platoon", "Elephant Man", and "Lorenzo's Oil".

Q. What is the name of the waiter who had a stroke?
He doesn't have a name, he's a character who seems to be placed wherever they want him. He's been seen as a waiter, an ice cream vendor, and an actor when Homer was executed, and that's just from memory. Fans call him "The Yes Man"

Q. Is Marvin Monroe dead?
Yes. Besides being mentioned in the 138th Episode and a 'memorial' mentioned in Who Shot Mr. Burns, it was never made completely obvious. Even the voice of the character, Harry Shearer, did not know one of his characters were dead until he saw his name on a tombstone in a Treehouse Of Horror episode.

Q. Why is Bart's shirt sometimes blue?
Bart's shirt is always orange/red in the show, but for some reason a lot of merchandise has his shirt blue. He's never worn a blue shirt like this on the show.

Q. What is Comic Book Guy's real name?
Unnamed until recently, his name is Jeff Albertson.

Q.What was the name of the song in Homer's New York flashback?
The song playing in the background is Scott Joplin's "The Entertainer". It was made famous by being used in the movie "The Sting", and certainly add's to the enjoyment of this scene.

Q.Why is Moe & Wiggum's hair black, and Smithers black in Season 1?
Season 1 was a somewhat experimental season in terms of animation quality, being that there was a chance it wouldn't be renewed. Character models and the opening sequence were fine-tuned in Season 2.

Q.What were all the jobs Homer listed off that he'd had?
boxer, mascot, astronaut, imitation Krusty, baby proofer, trucker, hippy, plough driver, food critic, conceptual artist, grease salesman, carny, mayor, drifter, bodyguard for the mayor, country western manager, garbage commisioner, mountain climber, farmer, inventor, Smithers, Poochie, celebrity assistant, power plant worker, fortune cookie writer, beer baron, Kwik-E-Mart clerk, homophobe, and missionary. And protecting Springfield

Q. Why do they cover their mouths when they say 'Atlanta Falcons' in "Sunday Cruddy Sunday"?
Obviously the episode 'Sunday Cruddy Sunday' was animated well before they knew who would be playing in the Super Bowl played on the day of this episode aired. By covering the mouths, they could splice audio and enter team names without us reading lips. Hence Moe saying 'Atlanta Falcons' and Homer 'Denver Broncos'. It's the same reason why no teams are seen playing football in the entire episode's run.

Q.What song was played in Disco Stu's heaven vision?
In Disco Stu's vision in "I'm Goin To Praiseland", the song "Get Dancin'" by Disco Tex and his Sex-o-lettes. This isn't the first time the song has been played on The Simpsons, it was sung by Hooray For Everything in the episode Bart Vs. Thanksgiving. Remember?

Q. What are Homer's lyrics to "Tubthumping"?
"I take a whiskey drink, I take a chocolate drink, and when I have to pee, I use the kitchen sink! I sing the song that reminds me I'm a urinating guy!"

Q. How did Homer lose his hair?
It's been shown that every time Marge announced she was pregnant, Homer ripped out more and more of his hair. This could be your answer, but it doesn't seem to line up with the state of his hair in previous flashbacks.
